CON02 - EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK
This one-day course has been designed for delegates who are required to assume responsibility for dealing with situations in which a casualty requires first aid. This course is designed to prepare staff from all disciplines with the skills to deliver and assist designated First Aid. All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course valid for 3 years
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- The role and responsibilities of a First Aider
- Principles and practice of Emergency First Aid
- Basic cardiac life support (infants/children and adults if applicable to course)
- Choking prevention techniques
- Caring for unconscious casualties
- Minor and Major First Aid
COURSE OUTCOME :
On successful completion of the course, the participant will be able to:
- Act as the Appointed Person for the area
- Apply the principles and practices of Emergency First Aid
- Perform basic cardiac life support
- Apply major and minor First Aid techniques
COURSE DURATION: 6 Hours
3 Hour refresher recommended each year.
Participants from all staff disciplines who have been designated First Aiders at work must attend this course. This course is recognised by the Health & Safety Executive.
NB. HSE Approved First Aiders must attend a 2-day First Aid at Work Re-qualification course BEFORE THEIR CERTIFICATE EXPIRES
Candidates are required to successfully complete an assessment of both theoretical and practical. All candidates will receive a certificate valid for three years at the end of the course

CON04 - FIRST AID AT WORK – RE-QUALIFICATION
In-date qualified First Aiders who hold HSE recognised/approved First Aid at Work Certificates. Candidates are required to successfully complete an assessment of both theoretical and practical competence, after undergoing a course of refresher training. All candidates will receive a certificate valid for three years at the end of the course

On successful completion of this course, the delegates will be able to:
- Act as the designated First Aider for agreed area, safely, promptly and effectively
- Examine and assess a casualty
- Administer CPR
- Apply suitable treatment for current First Aid techniques
- Care for an unconscious person
- Communicate and follow up on legal/policy documentation requirements

COURSE DURATION: 2 Days
All staff that, as part of their normal practice, move or handle loads. This course is designed to update personnel in the theory of Safe Manual handling of loads. All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course.
COURSE OUTCOME :
On successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Outline moral, economic and legal reasons for Manual Handling Training
- Identify the causes of back injury/risk factors
- Identify the principles of safe manual handling
- Apply basic Manual Handling Risk Assessment principles to manual handling activities

CON09 - HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARENESS
Senior / or Staff that induction to a new organisation, or need updating on existing and new legislation or procedures, in line with an Employers legal obligation to inform staff of Health and Safety in the workplace.
NB: All staff is advised to attend a refresher course annually.
To prepare participants for undertaking their obligation of complying with their Employer on Health and Safety in the workplace (HASAWA 1974). All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Health and safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- The “Six Pack” of Health and safety Approved codes of practice and guidelines
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
- Manual Handling

CON18 - WORKING AT HEIGHTS
All workers who need to recognise safety whilst conducting work at height. To provide delegates with a familiarisation of requirements under current legislation of working at heights. To review ways and methods of practices for working at heights. All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course
COURSE OUTCOME :
At the end of the course delegates will:
- Be able to select safe methods for working at heights
- Understand the importance of recognising the dangerous actions of others
- Review equipment to improve work place conditions
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Review of current legislation
- Identification of ways of working at heights
- Look at impact of failure
COURSE DURATION: 3 Hours
Managing Safety’s target audience is people in an organisation who have to manage risk and resources. The course’s aim is to provide these people with the knowledge and skills they require.
To ensure that safety requirements are appreciated by people employed as line manages and to enable them to review their own departmental systems for safety, introducing new controls or implementing changes as appropriate to make the department work more safely.
At least 4 weeks notice must be received with payment and the names of the delegates
COURSE OUTCOME :
On successful completion of the course delegates should be able to:
- Explain ‘working safely’
- Explain the component parts of a recognised safety management system such as HSG65 or BS 8800 and appreciate the role of risk assessment within the system
- Identify the data and techniques required to produce an adequate record of an incident and demonstrate the procedure for an accident investigation, recognising the human factors involved
- Describe statutory requirements for reporting and procedures for checking for non-reporting
- Describe methods of basic trend and epidemiological analysis for reactive monitoring data
- Define hazards and risks and describe the legal requirements for risk assessment
- Demonstrate a practical understanding of a quantitative risk assessment technique and the data required for records.
- Describe workplace precaution hierarchies
- Prepare and use active monitoring checklists and implement schedules for active monitoring, recording results and analysing records
- Outline the main provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- Outline relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, guidance notes and information sources such as the Health and safety Executive
- Describe procedures and techniques used in management reviews
- Distinguish specific hazards both generally and from an organisational perspective

CON24 - UKATA CATEGORY A ASBESTOS AWARENESS TRAINING
To provide an awareness and development of knowledge to site based employees of the hazards and risks posed by asbestos containing materials (ACM'S) within their everyday working environment and an overview of the legislative measures in place to safeguard themselves and others affected by work activities.
