CAR02 - EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK
This one-day course has been designed for delegates who are required to assume responsibility for dealing with situations in which a casualty requires first aid. This course is designed to prepare staff from all disciplines with the skills to deliver and assist designated First Aid. All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course valid for 3 years
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- The role and responsibilities of the First Aiders
- Principles and practice of Emergency First Aid
- Basic cardiac life support (infants/children and adults if applicable to course)
- Choking prevention techniques
- Caring for unconscious casualties
- Minor and Major First Aid
COURSE DURATION: 6 Hours
3 Hour refresher recommended each year.
CAR05 - MANUAL HANDLING AWARENESS CLINICAL T1
All staff that, as part of their normal practice, move or handle loads or clients. This course is designed to update personnel in the theory of Safe Manual Handling of loads and clients. All candidates will receive an attendance certificate at the end of the course.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Employers and employees responsibility
- General principles of risk assessment
- Spinal Awareness
- General prevention of back injuries and back pain
- Principles of Safe Manual Handling
COURSE DURATION: 3 Hours
CAR06 - MANUAL HANDLING CLINICAL T2
All staff that, as part of their normal practice, move or handle patients or clients. T1 must be completed prior to taking Tier 2 for the first time. All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Practical patient handling techniques
- Moving and handling equipment
- General patient risk assessment
- Patient handling documentation
COURSE DURATION: 3 Hours
CAR12 - BASIC MEDICATION AWARENESS (THEORY ONLY)
Particularly suitable for Health Care Assistants working within a community home or out in the community. All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course

- Record Keeping
- Expiry Dates and Disposal procedures
- Over the Counter medication
COURSE DURATION: 3 Hours
CAR14 - CIEH LEVEL 2 AWARD IN FOOD SAFETY AND CATERING
Everyone who works with food, whatever their job title and responsibilities. To educate delegates how to work with food in a hygienic manner that prevents contamination and protects consumers from food poisoning. To ensure that staff are aware of safe food handling procedures for their own clients well being. All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course.

- Pest Control
COURSE DURATION: 6 Hours
CAR15 - FOOD HYGIENE AWARENESS/REFRESHER COURSE
This course is aimed at those who require an awareness of food hygiene as part of their job. This course is aimed at those who require an awareness of food hygiene as part of their job. An attendance certificate will be issued at the end of the course. We recommend the CIEH Foundation in Food certificate for delegates whose main role is preparing food (6hrs). Yearly up dates are recommended for all delegates
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Understand what hygiene is
- Know the symptoms and main causes of food poisoning
- Explain the methods of preventing food poisoning
- Understand the principles of temperature control
- Understand the need for high standards of hygiene in food premises and how to achieve them
- Recognise the need for high standards of hygiene in food premises and how to achieve them
- State the need for and methods of achieving high standards of cleanliness in food premises

CAR16 - HEALTH & SAFETY AWARENESS COURSE
For carer's joining a new organisation, or those that need updating on existing and new legislation or procedures, in line with an Employers legal obligation to inform staff of Health and Safety in the workplace.
NB: All staff is advised to attend a refresher course annually.
To prepare participants for undertaking their obligation of complying with their Employer on Health and Safety in the workplace (HASAWA 1974). All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Health and safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- The “Six Pack” of Health and safety Approved codes of practice and guidelines.
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
- Manual Handling
- Employees’ and Employers responsibilities
- Personal Protective Equipment
COURSE DURATION: 3 Hours
All staff. The course is designed to revise and update on staff with actions and responsibilities should a fire occur while they are at work. To exercise knowledge, experience and training to further develop a fire safety culture. All candidates will receive a certificate at the end of the course.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Revision of responsibilities relating to fire safety
- Discussion on risks and hazard found in the work environment
- Understanding reactions to fire
COURSE DURATION: 2 Hours
CAR22 - INFECTION CONTROL / UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS
Qualified or unqualified nurses / carer's
This short course aims to develop an understanding of the principles of infection control in relation to nursing practice. Delegates will receive certificates of attendance at the end of the course.

- Why infection control is important
- How organisms spread the chain of infection
- Universal infection control precautions
- Cleaning and Disinfecting
